Kiana School, Kiana, NT

School statement
Kiana School is located on a small lease excised from the Kiana Station, 670km southeast of Katherine and 100km south of Borroloola. The population of the surrounding community is approximately 50 and the major language group is Garawa. The school can be accessed via road, 4WD only. The access roads contain a section of unsealed road and during the wet season there are two creeks that can cut access to the school. Kiana School is part of the Gulf Group School and provides education to students from preschool to middle years. The school has a core group of regular attendees and another group of students that move between Borroloola, Doomadgee, Tennant Creek and Katherine. The school provides a program whereby the students come to school, shower and change into their uniforms. The students are involved in the washing of their own clothes, uniforms and getting their own breakfast at school. Visit the school website.
