Established in 1893, Camooweal State School is a P to 7 school approximately 180km west of Mount Isa. The school operates as two multi-age classes, Prep to Year 3 and Year 4 to 7. The Principal provides non-contact time, curriculum coordination, teacher relief and intervention. The school curriculum is delivered through a focus on literacy, numeracy and integrated studies, and covers all eight of the key learning areas. The focus is shared by the Border Schools Network and allows for a continuity of curriculum delivery for students who move between schools. This approach focuses on building on knowledge and skills in a meaningful context. The school's vision is directed towards personalised learning through effective target setting and internal monitoring. The transient nature of the community requires a flexible approach to planning and curriculum delivery.
