School statement
Macleay Island State School is a Prep. to Year 7 Primary School situated on picturesque Macleay Island in Moreton Bay 15 minutes from the coast of Brisbane. In 2010 the school will be structured in composite classes. Our classrooms are focused on the Essential Learnings across Literacy and Numeracy but are diverse and dynamic learning environments involving students engaged in activities across all the Key Learning Areas. We offer students a wide school experience which includes our Instrumental Music program, 1-2-1 Laptop class, Interschool Sports, Swimming Program, Digihub, Kitchen Garden and much more. As an Island school with a small, close population, we endeavour to maximise community involvement and this is highlighted by our celebrations of Anzac Day, Australia Day and local community events. The school works in partnership with our P and C Association who support our engagement with local community organisations including BABI, Lifeline, Church groups, the RSL, the local Progress Association and Redland City Council initiatives. Supporting our students to achieve the best they can be is personified by our motto of 'Knowledge, Truth and Determination'. Visit the school website.
