School statement
Tagai State College guarantees the highest standards of teaching and learning to achieve the aspirations of the Torres Strait Nation. Embracing our unique Torres Strait Island Identity to achieve a world class standard of education is achieved through our vision of YUMI education. YUMI Education is provided through an extensive subject range, incorporating state-based academic studies with contextually relevant learning. Students are challenged and extended to become proud of the unique identity of the Torres Strait and confident in a global society. The College has responded to community demands by implementing significant changes in the delivery of education in the Torres Strait. Tagai State College has extended the provision of services from Prep to Year 12 to PrePrep to TAFE We recognise local expertise and emphases long-term strategic planning We are committed to develop a Language and Culture program ensuring learning activities value and maintain traditional protocols, knowledge and skills. We have developed a unique Learning Frame - integrating the Torres Strait Language and Culture program with State Curriculum.
