Grace Lutheran College, Rothwell, QLD

School statement

Grace Lutheran College, established 1978, aims to be a community based, co-educational secondary day school, based on Christian values and open to students without discrimination as to class, race or belief. In 2008, Grace opened a second campus at Caboolture and introduced Year 7 students at the same time. It now is organised into Middle School (Years 7 to 9) and Senior School (Years 10 to 12). Present enrolment is 1666 (1523 Rothwell 143 Caboolture - Years 7 to 9). Caboolture's first Year 12 will be in 2012. Grace has a wide range of electives and an extensive Learning Support program. Students are involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities including sport, performing arts, visual art, debating and chess. Pastoral Care, aiming to treat students as individuals, is a crucial element of the curriculum. Year 12 results over the years have been pleasing - a large proportion of students proceed to university or diploma studies at TAFE. A feature of the school is its Outdoor Education program in Year 10. Students in groups of 40 to 50 spend four weeks at Googa, a former forestry camp 7kms from Blackbutt. Self-reliance, challenge and personal spiritual development are the three main aims. Visit the school website.
