Marree Aboriginal School, Marree, SA

School statement
Marree Aboriginal School, in partnership with our community, is committed to building resilient students who have positive pathways to their future. With our site priorities of literacy, numeracy and the community, we are achieving success in our long-term outcomes leading to further study and employment. The school, which consists of JET crèche, a Child Parent Centre and Reception to Year 12 classes, sits in an isolated area approximately 660km north of Adelaide at the junction of the Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks. The population of approximately 100 permanent residents derive from Aboriginal, Afghan and European heritage. The school enjoys strong community support with families prepared to be involved in all relevant aspects of teaching and learning programs and operational practices. Marree students engage in a range of activities under the Jane Goodall Institute 'Roots and Shoots' umbrella and are currently involved in a variety of projects involving this philosophy. We also enjoy a relationship with 'Dare to Lead' and the Indigenous Leadership Institute who both support us in delivering a high-quality curriculum in partnership with strong cultural values. Visit the school website.
