Kangaroo Island Community Education, Kingscote, SA

School statement

Kangaroo Island Community Education (KICE) was formed in 2005 as a multi- campus birth to adult re-entry school from the three area schools on the island: Penneshaw, Parndana and Kingscote. KICE has links to the whole community with its unique resources, environment, people and profile. Kangaroo Island is Australia's fourth tourist icon. The school is complex with approximately 700 students from culturally-diverse and low socio-economic backgrounds. Students and their families are located across the island and travel is supported through a network of 18 school buses. Our school is recognised as the third most isolated school in South Australia. To redress this disadvantage, KICE is committed to the development of significant student learning and curriculum opportunities through utilising Information and Communication Technologies, Open Access and connection with mainland schools for VET/SACE, literacy/numeracy and early years programs.
