School statement
Matthew Flinders Anglican College is a co-educational, independent school at Buderim. Catering for about 1300 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our mission is to create educational experiences dedicated to fostering learning for life. It is affiliated with the Anglican Church and achieves its mission by providing a nurturing environment in which all students are encouraged to release their potential and become active contributors to the College and community. Outstanding OP and NAPLAN results have seen Flinders named as one of the top five schools in Queensland. In 2008, 90% of OP-eligible students gained an OP of 1 to 15, and 50% of Flinders students achieved an OP 1 to 7. On average, 90% of graduates continue their studies at tertiary level and in 2008, 99% of QTAC applicants received a tertiary offer. In the 2008 and 2009 NAPLAN, the school mean was better than both the State and National mean in every area. Flinders students achieve impressive results in sports, art, music and drama. Honours include Champion School in Secondary Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming, Champion Hockey Club, Champion Netball and Chess School, and Australia Post 1st XI State Cricket Champions.
