Merbein P-10 College commenced 2010 as a new entity, merged from Merbein Primary, Merbein South Primary, Merbein West Primary schools, and Merbein Secondary College. It serves 723 students with 1 principal, 4 campus leaders, 52.9 teachers and 17.7 Education Support Staff; totalling 75.6 EFT staff. The Master Plans for Stage One, of a two stage Regeneration Project to build a new school were successfully tendered. When construction is completed the four campuses will co-locate onto one site. The Education Rationale for the Stage Two was approved and awaits funding. The primary staff co-plan their curriculum, their literacy improvement strategy and are trialling teaching within open classrooms, supported by a teaching and learning coach to prepare for teaching in twenty-first century designed learning neighbourhoods. Camps, activities and after school care programs are designed to build the new College identity and promote learning. To prepare for living in a global world, 15 secondary students travelled to China for an inaugural schools cultural exchange program. Students excel in sport, the visual and performing arts and in academic competitions. The Interim College Council agreed to provide net-books and digital learning devices to all students in 2011. National Schools Pride funds improved student shade and recreation structures, classroom furniture, and an aquaponic fish farm. The new school uniform was designed and adopted for sale from the College uniform shop. Parents re-grouped to form a new Parents Club.
