Hopetoun Primary School is situated on the south coast of the state 50km south of Ravensthorpe and 200kms west of Esperance. The school opened in January 2007. Its main buildings are sandstone and blue which depicts sand and ocean which is in close proximity. The buildings consist of two designated Early Childhood teaching areas, general classroom areas for the junior primary, and two transportable buildings for the middle and upper primary. Other buildings include the enclosed undercover area, library and an administration block. Early in 2009 student enrolments were 211. They reduced significantly as the local nickel mine closed bringing enrolments to approximately 61 students. In 2011 the nickel mine reopened under new owners, increasing our student population to approximately 135 students in 2015. A Principal, Deputy Principal and seven Teachers along with Support Staff make up our staffing profile. The staff work as a cohesive team and are dedicated to instilling our school vision and values to create a supportive environment for all students to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. Community support is outstanding. Parents assist at many levels from running the Uniform Shop, Fundraising, helping at busy bees, running book committees and developing policy and procedures through the School Council. Our school is well resourced with a wireless network, Notebooks that link to Interactive Whiteboards, Data Projectors and the Internet. Values and beliefs mirror Department of Education policy and are complimented by the You Can Do It!, and KidsMatter, which are integrated into each classroom.
